Lose Your Cool
Turn off the A/C. Air conditioners can reduce your gas mileage by 5% to 15%. Dependent on the year, make, and model of your vehicle, tint your windows or use the air vent.
Share Your Ride
The most obvious way to save on gas is to share a ride. Carpooling uses less gas, reduces toxic emissions, and decreases travel time by offering access to the carpool lane.
Eliminate Friction
Try to remove anything that resists the wind such as ski racks and roof boxes. Also, keep your windows closed on the freeway and scrape off any snow or ice that might cause air drag.
No Junk in the Trunk
One of the easiest ways to reduce fuel consumption is to lighten your cargo load. In other words, perhaps it's time to take the golf clubs out of the trunk. If you aren't using it that day, lose it.
Line 'em Up
Keep your car aligned and check tire balance & pressure. Make sure all of your tires are filled to the correct capacity.

Your car needs less than a minute to get your engine warm – even when it is brisk outside. Just 15 minutes of idling can consume up to ½ gallon of gas.
